Algebra Seminar

In this talk we intend to describe the work that has been done at the Universite Libre de Bruxelles over the years by a research team headed by Professor Francis Buekenhout, using the computer algebra package Magma. This work consists in building all geometries that satisfy a set of axioms from finite (simple) groups in order to try to obtain a coherent geometric understanding of the 26 sporadic groups in the spirit of the theory of buildings due to Jacques Tits.

The goal is still far from being reached.
