    Characterisation of complex manifolds by their automorphism groups.

    For an n-dimensional Kobayashi-hyperbolic complex manifold M, the group of its holomorphic automorphisms is known to be a finite-dimensional Lie group. Let d(M) denote the dimension of the group. We completely classify all M for which d(M) is bigger than or equal to n2+1. Indications are that for smaller values of d(M) an explicit classification is unlikely to exist.
