    Clifford Theory and quasi-nilpotent subgroups

    Friday 28th August, 12-1pm, Carslaw 273.

We use Cliffor theoretic reductions to reduce some questions about (ordinary and modular) irreducible characters of finite groups to the generally easier case when the group is quasi-nilpotent, or in some cases, quasi-simple. Even in the case of solvable groups, some apparently new resulst are obtained.
