Kostant Theorem and Harish-Chandra modules

Friday 2nd, May 12:05-12:55pm, Stephen Roberts.

We will discuss the general concept of Harish-Chandra modules defined for an associative algebra and its commutative subalgebra. In particular we consider an analogue of the Kostant theorem (for a pair consisting of the universal enveloping algebra of a Lie algebra and its center) which provides sufficient conditions that guarantee the extension of any character of the commutative subalgebra to an irreducible Harish-Chandra module. The results are applied to the restricted Yangians for gl(n). The talk is based on joint works with Yu.Drozd, A.Molev and S.Ovsienko.
