Algebra Seminar

Hilbert schemes, affine Lie algebras and Khovanov homology

Licata

Friday 5th October, 12:05--12:55pm, Carslaw 375

Please note the updated venue.

Speaker:

Anthony Licata (Australian National University)

Title:

Hilbert schemes, affine Lie algebras and Khovanov homology

Abstract:

The goal of this talk will be to explain how to use the higher representation theory of affine Lie algebras to construct braid group actions on various categories of algebraic and geometric origin. As an application, we give a geometric construction of Khovanov's \(sl(2)\) link homology using Hilbert schemes of points on ALE spaces.

After the seminar we will take the speaker to lunch.
